I was lucky enough to have Dean help me reach one of my nutrition goals for my wedding last year. Dean is not only guiding me to my first marathon (which has been a big bucket list time for me for ages) but also in an epic approach to life and I’m very grateful for his time and expertise. Here is what I have learnt so far…. Be consistent – just keep turning up. Be patient – fall in love with the process, even if it is slow. Be present – let your body do what it’s meant to do. I’ve achieved some pretty cool things in just a month with Dean too. Personally I’ve run my furthest run to date at 17km and my fastest 1, 5 and 10km times ever and the best part, none of those things were a focus, just a byproduct of turning up, being patient and being present. Most importantly for me, my boys are seeing me working hard towards this goal and they think it’s pretty cool that I run so far. My fiancé is loving seeing me so passionate, almost obsessed with something again too. Dean programs for ME and where I’m at, always checks in to see how things are progressing and answers all of my ridiculous questions very promptly and I’ve had a lot of them. I can’t wait to smash this marathon and see what’s next for Dean and I.
